Summer Light - Luanne Rice

Title: Summer Light

Genre: Romance

I just finished this book a few hours ago and am still teary-eyed just thinking about the characters. This definitely goes on my "keeper" shelf.

Publisher's Weekly states, "Few romance authors are able to portray the complex and contradictory emotions that bind family members as effortlessly as Rice...in this enchanting, heartfelt tale, she showcases her considerable talent." I couldn't have said it better!!!

Summer Light is a tender story of love, loss, and reconciliation. It is a tale of how love can triumph over the most difficult of circumstances. It will make you laugh, cry, cheer, and in the end - make you glad you read the book!

May Taylor is a single mother and a successful wedding planner. However, she has had her fair share of life's trials - her parents died when she was young, she was abandoned by the father of her child, and her daughter seems to see and sense things other people don't.

Martin Cartier is a sports legend - he plays professional hockey for the Boston Bruins. They meet on an airplane ride headed for disaster and their love blossoms. However, events from Martin's past threatens to tear them apart. Not only the past - but their future also shows signs of trials to come. Will Martin's heartache, rage and isolation destroy their life together?

Will May's daughter be able to show them the way home? Will the daughter's ability to see "beyond the veil" help May lead them there?

Not only has Luanne Rice developed rich main characters, but her secondary characters also add depth and warmth to the story. She creates real life situations and weaves them into a powerful tale that will take you to the heights and depths of emotion.
