Marie Force has definitely scored a TOUCHDOWN with Line of Scrimmage. This is a debut novel for her, and she certainly hit the mark. I am anxiously waiting for more from this author. This book will appeal to both lovers of romance and sports fans.
In ten days, Susannah's divorce will be final. She and Ryan, her star quarterback husband, have been separated over a year, and she is engaged to someone else. During a dinner party with her fiance, Ryan appears at her door hurt and making demands. He wants Susannah to spend every minute of the next ten days together or else he will contest the divorce. With her pending marriage, Susannah has no choice but to agree with his demands.
Ryan only has ten days to convince his wife that their divorce is a mistake. Ryan and Susannah set out on a roller coaster ride of emotions - blackmail, trust, deceit, hurts, passion, understanding, patience, and danger. Will Ryan be able to convince Susannah that their marriage is work saving? Will Susannah's mistrust drive Ryan away?
These characters are so believable. I laughed and cried with them, cheered Ryan on, and felt Susannah's pain. Ryan had me caring for him from the first time he showed up on her doorstep till the last pages read. His dimpled smile and charm had me won over. Susannah's ability to keep him grounded was one of her strengths. Their marital problems were honestly portrayed, and their attempts at reconciliation were realistic. There is also a wonderful secondary story about the ups and downs of being a member of a football team and being a wife of the star quarterback.
I just can't say enough about this book. This is definitely a reread for me.

Hi Kara, thought I'd follow up on this to say Line of Scrimmage was probably my favorite book of 2008. I even read it twice! It really was the whole package for me. I'm so excited to see what's next for this author.
