Another Sookie Stackhouse book, and I enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed the first three. Even though this is another vampire series - it is unique in its writing. Charlaine Harris creates vivid characters that make me want to revisit them again and again. I love Sookie - she is just a working class woman trying to get by and not let her physic abilities drive her crazy. Then one night, Bill the Vampire walks in her bar, and her life changes forever. The series encompasses her association with Bill and all the events that happen along with that association.
In Dead to the World, we learn that Bill has left for Peru and leaves Sookie alone to deal with their failing relationship. New Year's Eve has arrived, and Sookie makes a resolution to not get beaten up in the approaching new year. On the way home from Merlotte's party, she comes across Eric running down her road half naked. When she stops to help, he turns on her. He doesn't recoginize her because his memory is gone. Now this is a serious issue as Eric is the vampire who is "Sheriff" over Shreveport. Sookie takes him in, and her investigation into why Eric has no memory leads straight into a dangerous battle among witches, vampires, and werewolves. However, the greater danger is that Sookie is having a hard time keeping her distance from Eric. He has become kinder and gentler and is very difficult to resist. Will Sookie keep her resolution? Will she be able to resist Eric's charm? And what happens if Eric gets his memory back - how will that affect their relationship?
Once again, I have to say that this is a great series!! Sookie is a true heroine. She cares about those she considers her family, is dedicated to her brother, and tries to be as normal as possible in a world full of supernatural adventures.

I would pick up a naked Eric running down my road ANY time! Hope you enjoy this series as much as I did. Check out my chapter on him if you get a chance (in "Dark Angels" coming out soon). Then let me know what you think. :-)
